Leia Antunes
Miss Leia is a dedicated professional with a deep-rooted passion for ballet and dance. Born and raised in Smiths Falls, ON, Leia began her journey in ballet at a young age, eventually joining the Royal Winnipeg Ballet’s Professional Division at 12. After years of intensive training and performances, including roles in Swan Lake and The Nutcracker, she embarked on a journey to Europe to explore new opportunities in the dance world. Although her path led her away from professional ballet, dance remained an integral part of her life as she pursued a career in Massage Therapy and started a family. Her love for dance never waned, leading her back to her hometown where she began teaching at Redeemer Dance Academy. She stepped into the role of studio director after 3 years. Now in its 11th year, the academy is a testament to Leia’s commitment to providing excellent dance training while instilling the joy of dance and a love for Jesus Christ in all her students.
Hannah Grant

Hannah has amassed over 27 years of experience in dance, starting with ballet at age three and quickly falling in love with it. By six, she was exploring Irish dancing and had added jazz, tap, and step dancing to her repertoire by age 11. She trained in many more styles of dance, taking courses and intensive workshops. Hannah took examinations in the Cecchetti style of ballet and studied ballet throughout her dance years. Her performance as Veruca Salt in “Willy Wonka, Jr.” at age 14 deepened her love for the stage. Hannah has appeared in many musicals, demonstrating her skills in acting, singing, dancing, choreography, and hair and make up artistry. When not performing, she enjoys family time with her husband and two kids. Hannah is thrilled to be starting her third year as a teacher at Redeemer, eager to inspire the upcoming generation with her enthusiasm for dance and the performing arts.
Kalyssa Shoemaker

Kalyssa Shoemaker has been a part of the dance community since the age of 10. She trained and competed as a provincial gymnast before discovering her love for dance. She has danced in many styles including Jazz, Lyrical/Contemporary, Acro, Ballet and Hip Hop. Kalyssa has been trained in classical ballet receiving distinction in her RAD exams, as well as having training under ISTD and ADAPT jazz exams. She auditioned for and attended Eastwood Collegiate Arts School as a dance major for two years before becoming a dance instructor. Kalyssa is a proud teacher and choreographer at Redeemer Dance Academy in numerous styles of dance. She strives to encourage students to find their unique style and to dance to honour the Lord.

Kalyssa’s passion for dance has always shown in the studio, on stage, and everywhere she goes, and she loves that she can share her passion and inspire the next generation of dancers!
Stacey Heuff

Miss Stacey’s journey in dance began at the age of three, with a passion for jazz that soon evolved into a love for baton twirling by the time she was six. When her dance studio closed, Stacey embraced a new challenge: gymnastics. Her dedication paid off as she spent four competitive years on the gymnastics team. She returned to dance at 12 years old, discovering a love for ballet. Stacey immersed herself in the world of ballet, jazz, and lyrical dance, dedicating her time to competing in these disciplines. Her enthusiasm extended beyond the dance studio as she participated in school productions, musicals, and performances throughout her junior and intermediate years. At eighteen, Stacey pursued her lifelong dream of becoming a teacher, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English from Laurentian University. She then went on to University of Ottawa, graduating Cum Laude from the Teacher’s College a year later. With 16 years of teaching experience both in schools and as a dance instructor, Stacey has made a significant impact in her field. This year marks her second as an instructor at RDA, where she cherishes the opportunity to mentor young dancers and share her love for the art form. When not teaching, Stacey enjoys outdoor activities, reading, and spending quality time with her husband and children. Sharing her love of dance with her daughter has filled her cup to overflowing with love and pride.
Catherine Poag

Miss Catherine’s passion for gymnastics began at the age of three, and she has cherished every moment since. Her journey through gymnastics and cheerleading has been marked by exciting competitions, rigorous practices, and the joy of making new friends. In 2022, Catherine joined Redeemer Dance Academy as an instructor, where she teaches Acro to a range of ages. She aims to share her deep love for the sport and help students experience the many benefits of being part of this dynamic discipline. With 19 years of combined experience in aerobic gymnastics, cheerleading, and instruction, Catherine brings a wealth of knowledge to her teaching, covering skills from tumbling to stunts and beyond. Outside of the dance world, Catherine works in marketing and is a published author. She has released one novel and is eagerly preparing to publish her second.
Krista Faraday

Miss Krista began dancing at the age of four in Prince George, B.C. She went on to train in multiple styles, competing and performing across the Interior BC. To further her education Miss Krista studied with amazing choreographers, and sought out educators in the industry . For over 25 years, Krista has owned and directed her own studio, creating an environment where dancers grow in both artistry and personal confidence. Her approach blends strong technical training with a focus on well-being, mentorship, and leadership, inspiring the next generation of dancers. Being newer to the area Miss Krista is excited to bring her west coast knowledge to the students at Redeemer, and help them find their passion for dance.
